When Kassie asked if I wanted to write the blog this week based on my post within my photography Facebook page, I was honored (but still the nerves set in). The post I had made was to bring a little joy, and a whole lot of hope to what is going on in our current lives right now, no matter what your situation is. I know that there are so many others that are further in their walk with Christ than myself, but I also thought, “man, any light for Christ is better than no light at all.”
We all know that right now the world and the people on it are in a state of confusion, panic, while some remain calm and steadfast in the Lord. However, there are so many unknowns but the good thing is that the Lord already knows and is walking alongside us.
During all of these changes, unknowns, and running around in the world, we have to remember one thing. Looking at this picture, you see that there is movement (which represents the uncertainty, and complete chaos in the world) but look closer….do you see it? That one butterfly in the middle of the chaos is still and in focus. My friends, that is the Lord our Savior. We should be solely focused on Him because without that anchor we would be sucked into the whirlwind happening right now and in our everyday lives. In the Bible, Moses tells the people to be still. Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, and you must be quiet.” Be quiet. Be still. Kind of impossible to do that in a time like this, right? Actually that last sentence is wrong, it may seem difficult to do, but it is something that must be done. We must as a people stop, stop searching for all the answers in the media, stop running in circles in pure panic, stop letting the enemy into our minds and twisting our thoughts. (Now, I am not saying don’t plan, I know we have been grocery shopping and glad we have! We have not however, bought out all of the toilet paper. Haha. Perks of growing up on the farm we got to drip dry quite a bit! We also have great neighbors if we were to run out so no one has to see me in the front yard drip drying!)
The enemy is trying so hard to intervene in our lives, tempting us with anything he can so that we feel fear. FEAR is a liar, but we can still let it into our lives- so it must be our goal to stop that from happening. Isaiah 43 proves this over and over. “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you pass through waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you. “ The best feeling though is when you let the Lord into your heart and life (you don’t have to have it all together, trust me, I sure don’t) but having even that little mustard seed of hope can change the world.
CHANGE the world, let’s unite as children of God and be that LIGHT. As I said earlier, your faith doesn’t have to be huge, in fact it can be quite small but that is ok. Matthew 17:20 the Lord says, “Because of your little faith,” he told them. “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Hold on to that hope today my friends, and know that the Lord will not let us walk alone. In all of the chaos that butterfly is still, anchored to the leaf as the wind whips around it doesn’t matter, He is calm. We need that in our lives everyday.
